The good and The bad. Month 3

Scroll down if you just want to see my monthly results!

Another month down and i am so ready to turn the page and start september. While i did make quite a lot of money, the run was not enjoyable. Every tournament i played seemed like it was out to get me, all the crazy bubbles, final table bad beats and a break even cash grind. Crazy to think this is the best month i have had in Short deck so far. Running bad always seems to build character and i did a fair bit of learning(i really need to learn some preflop charts). Hopefully september will be a dull grind, i have had enough of swings. I started the month up around 2.1k€ but it really did cool down a bit as every single tournament seemed to have a bad beat in store for me like this one :

Lovely right? I guess you have to take these on the chin and move forward.

Anyhoo, lets get into my month.

Cash game graph is pretty bleak, take out the rake and i am barely profiting at all. The big swings were all from shots in nl10 , i definitely have a hate relationship with that limit and do not look forward to playing that, the hourly is just so bad and the swings get pretty big.

On to the tournaments, while i did have quite a few 100$+ cashes, i did also have quite a lot of buy ins. The biggest win obviously came from a Zodiac event win, for 1592€, you can read about it here.

I never seem to get lucky in the 21$-31.50$ tournaments though, hopefully this will change as i am not even looking forward to playing them again. I will post some bigger scores and some bad beats, those are always fun right?

Not too bad eh? A lot of value but not a lot of results, all of these are from final tables so a few holds could have changed my month drastically. But this is poker, if it was easy everybody would do it.

This looks like a bitter rant, but it really isnt, this game is so much fun and i love the swings even if they sometimes can seriously tilt you up.

I did manage to hit a lot of flip outs at least, oh and this jackpot, well i didnt hit this but somebody at my table did and i got some crumbs, sweet!

Lets get on to the flip outs!

A quick calculation shows that we made bank!  A total of 487$ , added to that around 40$ in rakeback, 50$ from leaderboards and we are a true rake back warrior, profiting with rake is awesome.

August profits : 1339€

  • Goal : 5476€/40000€
My investments are taking a big hit during this economic down turn, but the poker profits leave it to dust!

By the way, i am starting a guide on how to play Short Deck poker, take a peek and stand by for any new posts i make, lets earn some dollars!

Month 4 - Downswing

September was pretty mundane, cash ran under EV and all my tournaments went pretty darn horrible, overall i maybe made around 300€ in total but because of the global economic situation i was losing money pretty hard. I also got promoted and started a new job, lots of new things to learn and less time to play poker. I was pretty exited to play WCOOP but the fun lasted for only an hour ' And my cash game graph for me the month, hopefully October will go better Goal :  5279€/40000€

Legend of Leemurikari - zero to 40k through poker : Month 1

Hi i am a 32 year old man who has always dreamed of buying a house. I used to play nl25-50 holdem from 2011 until 2018 when i realized playing poker for a living is'nt for me anymore. I have made a total of 100k$+ and saved up absolutely none of it, stupid kid i know. Oh well, atleast i can start all over again now huh? Poker has left me with no actual skills that apply to real life, so i definetely can't just save up towards a house from my salary and onlyfans probably isn't for me. Since i lack absolutely any skills i will be doing it the hard way, lots of hours. I started playing poker again last year with 20 bucks and a dream to get some savings towards an eventual house, i will be playing 50-100h a month Heres my tournament graph, sick isnt it. Full five buckaroos an hour, life is great.  Can't really give a graph of my cashgame grind since huds are not allowed on ggpoker but trust me on it, its equally as sick, 5 bucks an hour 👀 Here's where im at after a ...

How to play short deck poker. pt 1

The basics of short deck poker. Short deck poker is very different from  Texas hold'em   , cards 2-5 are removed from the game and that changes the whole dynamic of the game. With 36 cards in the deck instead of 52 cards and the use of antes instead of blinds (excluding that button puts on the blind) and antes are 1 big blind everything changes. Raises become more rare, limping becomes normal and it is completely okay to go All in  for 100 big blinds seeing 2 limps in front of you. One hard to adapt change is that flushes beat full houses , due to the fact that it is actually harder to hit a flush then a full house in short deck. The chance to hit a flopped flush draw is roughly 15% to hit on the turn and 30% to hit by the river. That is because there are less cards to actually hit. You have 5 outs going towards the river. Sets are the opposite, its easier to hit a set in short deck then in  hold'em , roughly 13% of the time you can expect to flop a set....
