Every tournament i played seemed like it was out to get me, all the crazy bubbles, final table bad beats and a break even cash grind. Crazy to think this is the best month i have had in Short deck so far. Running bad always seems to build character and i did a fair bit of learning(i really need to learn some preflop charts). Hopefully september will be a dull grind, i have had enough of swings. I started the month up around 2.1k€ but it really did cool down a bit as every single tournament seemed to have a bad beat in store for me like this one : Lovely right?   The basics of short deck poker. Short deck poker is very different from  Texas hold'em   , cards 2-5 are removed from the game and that changes the whole dynamic of the game. With 36 cards in the deck instead of 52 cards and the use of antes instead of blinds (excluding that button puts on the blind) and antes are 1 big blind everything changes. Raises become more rare, limping becomes normal and it is completely okay to go All in  for 100 big blinds seeing 2 limps in front of you. One hard to adapt change is that flushes beat full houses , due to the fact that it is actually harder to hit a flush then a full house in short deck. The chance to hit a flopped flush draw is roughly 15% to hit on the turn and 30% to hit by the river. That is because there are less cards to actually hit. You have 5 outs going towards the river. Sets are the opposite, its easier to hit a set in short deck then in  hold'em , roughly 13% of the time you can expect to flop a set. Another thing t

  Best tournament of the year. So i was not planning to play a big tournament but there it was, the 75€ zodiac festival shortdeck bounty. How can i ever resist that, the tournament started off like hell, i lost an all in from a JT6 flop with JT vs KQ and then lost another 2 buy ins against hands i dont even remember anymore. Here we go, buy in number 4... thats 300€ down the drain so far but the prize pool was too juicy to ignore. After playing tight for a while i flop a flush versus a massive 120€ bounty loose losing player, i bet the flop and turn, i see the river and think this is a nice spot for an overbet shove, opponent tanks for ages and makes the call, cool. 120€ heading my way, we dont feel so bad about 300€ in buy ins anymore. The rest of the tournament went pretty damn chill, everyone played super tight which is very unusal for a shortdeck bounty so we just took down small pots all the way to heads up, nothing special , no bounties, no big all ins just a boring style of taki

  Needed a mental break from cash games and loaded up some tournaments, the only ones availible were a little over my bankroll, buts it is fine i am pretty over bankrolled for my regular nl5 games anyway. Started the day off with the 31.50$ Short deck bounty, managed to grab a few bounties and finish a dissapointing 3rd AQo vs AJs, both opponents were losing players so a hold would have been nice but thats the game i guess. After the 31.50 there was only the 21$ short deck bounty running so i guess we are in. Started off pretty bad losing AK vs AQ for a buy in, but hey its shortdeck, it happens. Reg again and go, first hand AA and an all in infront of me, he has KK. Flop comes TT8, im happy, and then the turn... a K, oh well guess we are out again. Not an easy month for me, was tough finding the time to grind out some hours but happy with all the results overall.  Cash game graph looks decent, was running above EV which is obviously sweet, mostly nl5 but mixed a little nl10 in there aswell, definetly more $ hourly in nl5 though. Knowing ggpoker we can deduct about 150$ of rake from the graph, if only i had it in me to actually learn the game and get that EV going up, there's always next month huh? Tournament grind was not good but i manged to atleast clutch in the end to break even or even profit a few dollars so thats that. Had a few decent deep runs but nothing special, highlight of the month was losing 8 buy ins on a 22$ tournament definetely though. Wanted to play a 110€ live tournament this month but i went on vacation to Lapland so couldnt make it, guess ill wait for next year since shortdeck is not very popular for live games yet.    Hi i am a 32 year old man who has always dreamed of buying a house. I used to play nl25-50 holdem from 2011 until 2018 when i realized playing poker for a living is'nt for me anymore.
